Through collaborative endeavors among higher education institutions, the Hartford Consortium for Higher Education promotes optimal sharing of collegial resources, information, expertise and ideas; serves as a catalyst for innovative educational initiatives that respond to a changing education environment; encourages educational excellence across the lifespan; and asserts the role of higher education in the economic, cultural and social life of Hartford and the region.
Collaboration among HCHE member institutions will result in the Greater Hartford region being known for its vibrant college culture and recognized as a destination for college students.
The cross-registration program is as old as the Hartford Consortium for Higher Education. In 1972 the five original private institutions decided to open their doors to permit students from any member campus to study at another school. Today undergraduates, graduate students and employees can study at virtually every one of the 5 private, 5 public and 2 seminary members of the Consortium. Learn more
The Hartford Consortium for Higher Education (HCHE) provides opportunities for collaboration among faculty, student, staff and administrators at its member institutions. The Faculty Grant Program is one form of collaboration. The Consortium encourages participants to develop joint projects involving two or more member institutions that benefit both members and the wider community in the Hartford area. Learn more
