Dr. Deena Grant, Associate Professor of Jewish Studies, Named Acting Dean
Deena Grant, Associate Professor of Jewish Studies, will become Acting Academic Dean of Hartford International University for Religion and Peace (formerly Hartford Seminary) as of July 1, 2022. She is believed to be the first Jewish dean at HIU, which was established in 1834. An observant Jewish scholar, Dr. Grant has been at HIU for five years. She values studying and teaching the Hebrew Bible from a historical-critical perspective as well as how it is interpreted and lived out by faith communities. For more on her appointment click here.

The University of Saint Joseph presents a three-part Civil Rights Film Series, curated by Dr. Pablo Correa, Dr. Anthony De Jesús, and Steven Raider-Ginsburg. Charlene Russell-Tucker, USJ alumna and Women’s Leadership Center Steering Council member, comes to this position with more than 20 years of experience, most recently serving as Deputy Commissioner of the state agency, here she focused on educational supports and wellness priorities. Dr. Joseph Duffey, who attended and taught at Hartford Seminary and launched a legendary antiwar Senate campaign in the early 1970s, has passed away at 88.
